JOHANNESBURG, JAKTIMES.COM- From the Republic of Mozambique, President Joko Widodo arrived in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. The Garuda Indonesia plane (GIA-1) carrying President Jokowi and his entourage landed at O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa, around 5:00 PM local time.
Under the aircraft’s stairs, President Jokowi was welcomed directly by the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment of South Africa, Barbara Creecy, Senior Manager of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) of South Africa, Sindiswa Mququ, as well as the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, Saud Purwanto Krisnawan, along with his wife.
At the airport, President Jokowi was also greeted with the Zulu Dance, a traditional welcoming dance from South Africa.
From O.R. Tambo International Airport, President Jokowi and his entourage headed straight to the hotel where they will stay during their time in Johannesburg. At the hotel, President Jokowi was welcomed by the Indonesian Consul General in Cape Town, Tudiono, as well as a number of Indonesian communities in South Africa.
Prior to this, President Jokowi and his delegation took off from Maputo International Airport, Mozambique, at around 4:00 PM local time.
Accompanying President Jokowi on the flight to Johannesburg were the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, and the Secretary of the Cabinet, Pramono Anung (Wan)
