JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM – President Jokowi launched the shipment of humanitarian aid to Palestine on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Indonesian Air Force Base in Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta.
“Alhamdulillah, this morning, Indonesia’s assistance for the Palestinian people will soon depart for El Arish Airport in Egypt and will then be forwarded and distributed to Gaza,” said the President.
The President stated that the first phase of aid, to be carried by three aircraft, consists of 51.5 tons of aid. This assistance includes food, medical supplies, blankets, tents, and other logistical items tailored to the needs in Gaza.
“This aid is not only from the government but also from the public and the business sector, channeled through various humanitarian organizations. Contributions come from Baznas, IHA, PMI, Kitabisa, as well as from the government, TNI, and Polri. Furthermore, we hope for more contributions from the public and the business community,” said the President.
The President mentioned that the next phase of aid for Palestine is also being prepared for shipment. He emphasized that this aid delivery is Indonesia’s expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people and Indonesia’s commitment to humanitarian concerns.
“This is an expression of Indonesia’s solidarity and our concern for humanity, as the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza is unacceptable and must be stopped as soon as possible,” the President added.
Furthermore, the President reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to stand with the Palestinian people.
“Indonesia will continue to stand with the struggle of the Palestinian people,” he concluded.
Among those present at the launch were Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Admiral Yudo Margono, and Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun (Wan)
