JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM – The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has once again demonstrated its concern for regions affected by natural disasters.

This time, 15 units of portable toilets have been dispatched to Aceh Tamiang to help meet the sanitation needs of evacuees, volunteers, and field officers at the disaster site.

Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, emphasized that in emergency situations, sanitation facilities are a basic necessity that cannot be delayed.

“When disaster strikes, everything changes. All activities shift to evacuation centers. But one thing remains the same: everyone needs proper sanitation facilities,” Asep said on Wednesday (December 17, 2025).

According to him, the presence of portable toilets is not merely an additional facility at evacuation sites. More importantly, they serve as a vital support for the health of evacuees and help ensure the smooth operation of volunteers and officers working tirelessly in the field.

“These portable toilets are essential spaces for maintaining the health of evacuees, supporting field operations, and sustaining the resilience of humanitarian volunteers in emergency conditions,” he explained.

Asep expressed hope that the assistance would provide tangible benefits and help create a cleaner and healthier environment in disaster-affected areas. The initiative is also part of preventive efforts to reduce the risk of disease caused by poor sanitation.

“The 15 portable toilets dispatched are part of our efforts to prevent the risk of disease and maintain environmental hygiene. Compassion knows no distance—Jakarta stands with Sumatra,” he stressed.

This move reaffirms the Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to continuing its role and contribution in responding to national disasters, as a manifestation of solidarity and mutual cooperation among regions across Indonesia. (Wan)
