5 Local Startups Selected for Grab Ventures Velocity Batch 8, Ready to Drive a Sustainable Future

Business Jakarta

JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM – Five Indonesian startups have officially been selected to join the Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV) Batch 8 accelerator program. They are CASION, Jejakin, Liberty Society, Rekosistem, and Sirsak. Out of a total of 180 applicants, these five made it to the finalist list and will undergo six months of intensive mentorship.

Through GVV, the finalists will receive direct guidance from industry practitioners, integration into Grab’s digital ecosystem, opportunities to run pilot projects, and chances to pitch to investors and strategic partners.

This year’s GVV carries the theme “Driving a Sustainable Future: Helping MSMEs to Adopt Greener Operations”, targeting early-stage startups offering innovative solutions in the fields of circular economy and renewable energy. Strategic support also comes from Superbank and Genesis Alternative Ventures, which will provide access to digital banking, mentorship, and flexible financing.

“GVV is here to strengthen the local startup ecosystem to be adaptive, sustainable, and ready to scale up, especially amid funding challenges since the tech winter of 2022,” said Grab Indonesia’s Country Managing Director, Neneng Goenadi.

According to CELIOS data, funding for digital startups in Indonesia dropped by 66% in 2023. However, corporate contributions remain significant, accounting for 34% of total national funding. Since its launch in 2018, GVV has graduated 40 startups with an 85% sustainability rate, surpassing the global average.

A Glimpse at the GVV Batch 8 Finalists

  • CASION – A 24-hour electric vehicle charging station network with monitoring and payment via app, plus cost-saving subscription packages.

  • Jejakin – A climate-tech platform for emission calculation, tree planting, and MRV powered by AI, satellites, and IoT.
