Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (Dec 4, 2025).
The meeting was warm and dynamic, covering key issues concerning the Muslim world.
President Prabowo was accompanied by Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani and Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
After the meeting, Dahnil said that Sheikh Al-Issa views Indonesia under Prabowo’s leadership as a major force within the Muslim world, with increasing global influence.
“President Prabowo has a strong influence in ensuring that global peace initiatives—especially within the Muslim world—can move forward,” Dahnil stated.
He added that Sheikh Al-Issa also expressed special appreciation for Prabowo’s efforts in promoting peace and resolving the conflict in Gaza and Palestine.
According to Dahnil, this recognition comes not only from Muslim-majority countries but also from Western nations.
Discussion on ‘Kampung Haji’
During the meeting, President Prabowo also conveyed his appreciation to the Muslim World League and the Government of Saudi Arabia for supporting Indonesia’s plan to establish the Kampung Haji (Hajj Village) in Saudi Arabia.
“The President hopes that Kampung Haji will continue to improve the quality of hajj services in the future,” Dahnil said.
Invitation to Speak at Global Islamic Summit
Sheikh Al-Issa also extended an invitation to President Prabowo to speak at the upcoming Muslim World League Conference.
The schedule will be adjusted according to the President’s availability.
“They hope President Prabowo will bring a message of peace and unity to the global Muslim community,” Dahnil added.
The meeting highlighted the strengthening relationship between Indonesia and the Muslim World League, while underscoring Prabowo’s push for global peace diplomacy and improved services for Muslim pilgrims (Wan)
