JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM — Residents of South Jakarta will soon have a new green open space for sports and recreational activities. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the construction of Taman Bendera Pusaka is expected to be completed and officially inaugurated next month.
“Hopefully next month,” Pramono said while speaking to reporters at Taman Gapura Muka, Cakung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (Jan. 6).
According to Pramono, Taman Bendera Pusaka is designed to become a comfortable public space as well as a new alternative for Jakarta residents to stay physically active. One of its main features is a 1.2-kilometer jogging track.
“This 1.2-kilometer jogging track can serve as a new alternative. People don’t have to go only to GBK; they can also exercise at Taman Bendera Pusaka,” Pramono said, as quoted by Jaktimes.com from the official website of the Jakarta Provincial Government.
Taman Bendera Pusaka spans an area of 5.5 hectares and is the result of the integration of three existing parks in South Jakarta: Taman Langsat, Taman Ayodia, and Taman Leuser.
In addition to providing green space, the park is equipped with various public sports facilities. In the future, connecting bridges will be built to link all areas of the park, allowing visitors to move between sections without having to cross public roads.
For information, Taman Bendera Pusaka is located on land owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government and will be managed by the Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Agency (Distamhut).
With the presence of this new park, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes residents will have more healthy, safe, and easily accessible public spaces amid the city’s dense urban environment. (Wan)
