Jakarta Governor Ensures Property Tax Hike Only 5-10 Percent, Some Even Get It for Free!

JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that this year’s increase in Property Tax (PBB) in the capital is relatively small, only around 5–10 percent. He urged residents not to panic or worry.

“Don’t worry about PBB, the increase in Jakarta is very small. In fact, I even reduced it yesterday. So in Jakarta, I’ve received reports that it’s no more than 5–10 percent. That’s really small,” Pramono said under the Slipi Toll Bridge in Central Jakarta, Thursday (14/8).

Pramono stated that transparency is key in determining PBB rates, ensuring a smooth process and encouraging citizens to pay their taxes on time. “For me, transparency is very important. In Jakarta, PBB issues have been relatively well-managed,” he stressed.

In addition, there’s good news for residents with certain Property Sales Value (NJOP). The Jakarta Provincial Government is offering a full PBB exemption — zero percent — for those owning houses with NJOP below Rp2 billion. The same policy applies to apartment owners with NJOP below Rp650 million.

“This applies to residents whose NJOP is below Rp2 billion — their PBB is 0 percent. For apartments priced below Rp650 million, it’s also 0 percent,” Pramono stated.

With this policy, Pramono hopes residents will feel more at ease while remaining compliant with their tax obligations (Wan)
