Greenpress Indonesia Condemns Israel’s Murder of Journalists in Gaza

Al Jazeera journalist, Anas Al-Sharif, reported on the condition of Gaza before being killed by Israel.

JAKARTA, JAKTIMES.COM – Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have once again sparked a wave of global condemnation. This time, Greenpress Indonesia has spoken out forcefully, condemning the killing of two Al Jazeera journalists, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Quraiqa, who were killed while reporting in front of Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza, on August 10, 2025.

Not only them, but two cameramen—Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa—and an assistant, Mohammed Noufal, also lost their lives. The total death toll reached seven in the attack, which Greenpress described as “the murder of truth.”

“This is genocide and a humanitarian crisis, not an ordinary war. Targeting journalists who risk their lives to expose the reality in Gaza is a war crime,”

said Igg Maha Adi, Executive Director of Greenpress Indonesia, to TheNusantaraPost.com, Wednesday (Aug 13, 2025).

Anas Al-Sharif was known as one of the bravest journalists in Gaza. His reports often came directly from the front lines amid relentless bombings. His final message before his death is chilling:“I have never hesitated to tell the truth as it is… If you are reading this, it means Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice.”

Marwan Aziz, Secretary-General of Greenpress Indonesia, urged the international community not to remain silent.

“We call on governments, international organizations, and civil society around the world to unite—not only to protect journalists but also to end Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza,” he stated.

Greenpress stressed that Israel’s total blockade has cut off supplies of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid to Gaza. As a result, millions of residents—including children—are trapped in mass starvation and what it calls a “man-made humanitarian disaster.”

“This blockade is a form of collective punishment that violates international law. The world must not allow the people of Gaza to die slowly from hunger and lack of medicine,” said Marwan.

Greenpress believes the attack on the Al Jazeera team was not an isolated incident, but part of a systematic pattern of targeting journalists in Gaza. Since the war began, more than 180 journalists have been killed—making this conflict one of the deadliest for members of the press in modern history.

“This is a direct attack on press freedom, human rights, and humanity itself. Silencing the voice of truth will never hide the suffering of the people of Gaza,” Igg Maha Adi concluded (Mutma)
